DirectoryBuildr is owned and operated by Andrew Murray, a sole trader registered in Portugal ("I", "me", "the site"). By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the site.
What this site is
DirectoryBuildr is an editorial directory of software, platforms and tools used to build directory websites, plus a blog covering how directory sites are planned, built and monetised.
It is a publication, not a service provider. I am not a reseller, agent or representative of any tool listed here, and using this site does not create any relationship between you and the companies listed.
No professional advice
Everything on this site is general information and my own opinion based on my own experience. Nothing here is legal, tax, financial, accounting or business advice, and nothing here is a guarantee of any commercial result.
Building a directory website is a business venture. Business ventures fail. Any figures, timelines or outcomes mentioned on this site are examples, not promises, and your own results will depend on factors outside my control and outside my knowledge.
Before acting on anything here, get advice from someone qualified in your own jurisdiction.
Accuracy of information
I write every review based on hands-on use or direct testing, and I try hard to be accurate.
That said, software changes constantly. Features get added and removed, pricing goes up, companies get acquired, products get discontinued. Information on this site was accurate on the date the page was written and may not be accurate now.
Always verify current features and pricing on the vendor's own website before you buy anything. I make no warranty that any information on this site is current, complete or error free.
Affiliate relationships
Many outbound links here are affiliate links, which means I may be paid a commission if you buy through them. This is set out in full on the Affiliate Disclosure page, and you should read it before relying on any recommendation here.
Third party sites and tools
This site links to a lot of external websites. I do not control them and I am not responsible for their content, their terms, their privacy practices, their pricing or their conduct.
Once you click through to a third party, your relationship is with that company. Any purchase, subscription, dispute, refund or support issue is between you and them. I am not a party to it.
Listing submissions and claims
If you submit a tool for inclusion, or claim an existing listing:
- You confirm you have the right to provide the information and any logos or images you upload
- You grant me a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, edit, format, shorten and display that content on this site
- You accept that I decide whether to publish, and that submission is not a guarantee of inclusion
- You accept that I may edit a listing for accuracy, clarity, house style or length
- You accept that I may remove or unpublish any listing at any time, without notice and without explanation
Listings are editorial. A Featured badge is a placement, not an endorsement, and paid placements are identified as such.
Reviews and user content
If you post a review or other content on this site, you are responsible for it. You agree not to submit anything that:
- Is false, misleading or intended to manipulate ratings
- Infringes anyone's copyright, trademark or other rights
- Is defamatory, abusive, harassing, obscene or unlawful
- Is spam, or exists mainly to promote another product or place a link
- Was written on behalf of a company about its own product or a competitor's product without disclosing that
I may moderate, edit or remove any submission, and I may block access to the site for anyone who abuses it. I do not verify every review, and a review reflects the opinion of the person who wrote it, not mine.
Intellectual property
The written content, structure, page layouts and original graphics on this site are mine and are protected by copyright.
You may quote short extracts with clear attribution and a link back to the page you took them from. You may not copy, scrape, republish or resell substantial portions of this site, and you may not use its content to train machine learning models or to populate a competing directory.
Third party names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners and appear here for identification and editorial purposes only. Their appearance does not imply any partnership, sponsorship or endorsement in either direction.
Availability
I make no promise that this site will be available, uninterrupted or error free. I may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, including individual pages and listings, at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or your reliance on anything published here. That includes lost profit, lost revenue, lost data, wasted expenditure and business interruption.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the amount you have paid me directly, which for use of this website is zero.
Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Indemnity
If content you submit to this site causes a claim against me, including a claim about accuracy, intellectual property or defamation, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of dealing with it.
Changes to these terms
I may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, and the courts of Portugal have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident in another EEA country, this does not remove any mandatory protection you have under the law of your own country.
